| A lot of cultures celebrate it... Little Christmas, epiphany (sorry for the spelling)... it is when the three kings came bearing gifts. I love it. More low key and a great dela of fun. So how is it celebrated in PR? | |

| Yes, Anne is correct, a lot of cultures celebrate it. I had a friend a while back from another country (not latin) that celebrated too. The way we do it is on the night of the 5th the kids go get grass for the camels, put it in a box and place it next to their beds. After they go to sleep (late at night ) the Three kings come with gifts, leave them under their beds and take the grass to the camels (and somehow manage to get the boxes back LOL). We also go to church on this day. Anyway it's fun (just like Christmas) but it's hard to celebrate when nobody else does... lots of questions from the little smarty ones Oh, and Anne, I thought this is what you were referring to earlier when you said 'Little Christmas' but I wasn't sure... never heard that term before. Interesting! do you celebrate? if so how? I would love to know! | |

Oh, and Anne, I thought this is what you were referring to earlier when you said 'Little Christmas' but I wasn't sure... never heard that term before. Interesting! do you celebrate? if so how? I would love to know! We usually have a small gathering for dinner. The children will find small handmade gifts by the creche for them in the morning. I usually try to replicate the scents and herbs given the Christ child and "gold"... on the table. We also sing and go to church. Low key but fun. It is the offical last day of the 12 days of Christmas for us. Love it :-) Anne

You're not an idiot. I use Photoshop Elements. I have an old version. I think it is 2.0. Sad, since the current version is 8.0. You can get a 30 day free trial by downloading it from Adobe.com. If you like it after 30 days, I think it costs around $100-150. I may be wrong about that. I love PS Element. It is a lot of fun to play around with. Yep...I am a nerd. Here are the summary of steps I did to get the photo to where it is. My goal was to have a black and white photo with just that portion of the population sign in color. When I was in Photoshop I copied the original photo, so I had two of the same photo open. I converted one to black and white. The other one I kept in color. I only wanted the population sign face in color, so I had to highlight the area I wanted. I did this with the magnetic lasso tool. When the area was completely outlined I dragged that portion to the black and white photo. I then dragged it so it was placed directly over the sign portion. Pretty easy, but a lot of little steps.
