| You know you go in for a $25 oil change and you leave with an estimate for "recommended" services for almost $1,200. This is why I hate going in for an oil change. I brought the estimate to work and showed the operations manager. He went down the list...you don't need this or this or this. He told me not to worry about a tune up until 100,000 miles. Not necessary unless you are encountering problems. Ever hear that? | |

| I've never had that happen to me before...did you take it to a dealership or just a quick lube type of place? | |

| My car has a 5 year warranty and since I'm a complete dunce when it comes to car stuff - I need it! When I took it in for it's "check up" about a month ago, they said the tires were showing some wear or something and that I should get a wheel alignment. Well the thing is, it was in their shop only two months previous after it's repairs when it was rearended and they had done it then! They don't refer to their previous work so they tell me. The wear on the tires was likely already there prior to the accident and they balanced and aligned them when the autobody shop took it there specifically for that. Dummies! It was going to cost me $100 had they done it. I said thanks but no thanks.
I think it's common for places to "recommend" things be done that aren't in a "do or die" situation. Much like sales people "upselling" their customers that come in for a jacket but gee, look at this scarf, doesn't it look great with that?? LOL... | |
